Researcher biography

My name is Ally Jones and I am a PhD Candidate in the School of Psychology at The University of Queensland.

My primary research interest is counterfactual thinking, or our ability to reflect on what did happen and then imagine what could have happened. Specifically, I am interested in when children begin to use counterfactual thinking in functional ways, i.e., thinking of what should have happened and then applying it to their future behaviours.  More broadly, I am interested in how children use counterfactual thinking to improve their decision-making and if they are learning from their counterfactual thoughts.
