Researcher biography

“My name is Zoe Ockerby and I am a PhD Candidate in the School of Psychology at UQ.

My research interests are in the areas of developmental and evolutionary psychology. Specifically, my research looks at innovation and future-oriented thinking, and how this affects decision-making. As adults, we often anticipate encountering a range of problems and then prepare ourselves to solve these problems before they occur. This capacity to anticipate future problems and recognise solutions is an important factor in our ability to innovate. My research aims to understand the development of these capacities in children, the role they play in children’s ability to innovate, and their role in shaping human culture and our evolution.”
