Researcher biography

Jessica Spence is PhD candidate studying Psychology  at UQ. Jessica will be investigating how children’s social preferences and decisions are guided by the way people look (i.e., race) and sound (i.e., accent). Research has shown that children’s bias towards same race individuals declines as children get older, however, their preference for native-accented speakers seems only to increase with age.

Jessica's research aims to investigate the mechanisms underlying these preferences across children’s development.
