Natalie Peluso
PhD Candidate

Researcher biography
I'm Natalie Peluso and I'm a former opera singer now PhD Candidate at the School of Psychology.
My research is all about self-expression - how do we use our selves (face, gesture, voice, breath) to communicate? And as observers, what information do we use to infer what someone else is trying to express? While my current focus is on the perception of facial movements, I'm also interested in the role of sensorimotor learning and expertise in social cognition.
As part of my work at the ECDC, I'm investigating how dimensions of visual information in naturalistic faces shape social intelligence during childhood.
