Researcher biography
My name is Qi Min Ng and I am a PhD student in the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland.
My current research involves cognitive offloading, where I investigate children's use of strategies and tools to complete cognitive tasks. Specifically, I am interested in whether the increased exposure to devices and technological tools in this digital age affects children's cognitive capacities and offloading decisions (e.g., when there is a cost-benefit trade-off, are children selective with offloading, or do they choose to offload indiscriminately?). Outside of my PhD project, I also look at counterfactual thinking, where I investigate children's considerations of past actions and alternative choices, alongside how it may influence their emotions and future decisions.
